Have you recently shot it or do you think it fell out without any cause? I have had some front sight "dots" fall out during a range session before.

Looks like the adhesive/sealant is lifting from the sight. Probably did the same to the tritium vial. Probably some solvent leaked between the vial and the sight and weakened the seal.

What solvents are you using?

I recall reading somewhere that you can cover the sights with a dab of clear nail polish to seal them from cleaning chemicals.

Hadn't shot it for nearly a month. I pack it everywhere, in either a modified Galco hiride fletch or a Wright custom. Both cover to the muzzle.

I noticed it right off yesterday before the 1st round. Soon as the weapon came up, I'm like WTF?? sight profile is screwey, I'm going blind??? So I safety it and got a magnifying glass and found the mess. The guts are in there but lose.

Funny you should ask, I tend to dislike hosing down the slide with solvents for just those type of reasons.
My primary cleaning solvents are Hoppes (No.9) & (Crud Buster) and Tetra Blaster for hosing out the inside. The outside gets wiped down or rubbed with a T-B wetted cloth and wiped dry. It is possible to have gotten TB on the dots, but not much and not for very long. As a general rule I clean the slide over a trash can holding it vertical or pretty near vertical muzzle up. Unless of course it’s going to a full strip and I’m doing firing pin and extractor too.

That would do it! Wiping dry isn't going to get it out, and it is a very powerful solvent.

Well after a week of phone tag with DW I shipped off the slide today. They said it's not an uncommon issue. They're looking at it as a warranty, even if it's not it only runs around $75 bucks. So lets get'er fixed. And I don't have to play any games insuring the height and all.

Should be back in a couple weeks. Time to put the CBOB back to work for a while.

Nice...although I would seriously hope it would be covered.
