, I've been through this with my mom and dad, who eventually moved to Las Vegas a good thirty years ago. You and your wife need to have a united front and set ground rules early. The most important one that we had to put in place was:"Do not come over unless you have been invited, or have called to ensure that we are available and want company." Now, how to enforce it? True story. We were newly married and my mom and dad started to just "drop by" after church on Sunday. I asked that they call first, but in the world before cell phones... it was inconvenient. Since we were young, and Sunday was the only day that we had off together... we were doing "what comes naturally" when the doorbell rang. I threw on a pair of jeans and answered the front door with these words: Do You ever want grandkids? No, you can't visit. Please call next time." And I closed the door. Got an apology the next day and they always called before they visited! Hopefully, your MIL is a bit more genteel than my mom was and she'll take the hint and call first. And you know... now that I think about it, from the day I moved out of my parents home, I never "just stopped by." It's a respect thing. Well, I did once, which I'll tell about later in this thread. Promise. It was as anything I've ever done.

I always joke that I like my in-laws better than I like my wife's in-laws.

This I am not actually worried about. They really are super good people and very respectful. I am more concerned that I will be expected and voluntold by my bride to be their handyman, gutter cleaner, snow mover, etc slave. That will be an issue at some point I fear. But of course my wife will say I am wrong. Yeah ,ell eats rats. Lmao! Going to steal that one!

correct....but she is a great baker so sometimes the risk is worth the reward. I just fear being the slave boy.....the rest will be no problem I don't think.

Hey Donut boy! I IDOLIZED my MIL. There wasn't anything that I wouldn't have done to see that she enjoyed life. I would gladly mow her lawn, clean her gutters, do her shopping for her. Heck, I'd even smoke meats for her parties with her girlfriends. Just so long as she calls before she comes over. ROFL. sometimes I amuse even myself.

PSssssssT....
, your delusional side is peeking out there buddy.![]() Affable Roachboy. But not entirely correct, I don't believe he's been chipped yet or wears a dog collar off duty... Do you ??** And you can always pull an extra shift or do security at Dunkin' D's...** this would be a side of you we haven't seen yet, I mean besides the getting naked and parading around town in body paint on yer 10 speed... ![]() ![]() Quote:
Were you not present at your wedding??? You signed up for this. STOP whining and think positively! Look at all the negotiating points for new tool-oys you can acquire. The possibilities are limited only by you and your big mopey lower lip. Why in a few years you could find yourself out in the backyard with a loading room in the new manshack with a 6x Gator snowplow parked out front. not to mention the cot and lil'electric heater. But don't fret they'll let you back in the house on holidays... hehehehe. Yes you are wrong, you (like the rest of us with testicles) were born wrong. Get over it, press on and keep doing the right things for wife and family.Quote:
