I had a pistol on consignment at a local shop. It sold so I took partial payment in cash, the rest in a "new in the box" gun.
Imported by K&G in California in 1993-4 time frame; the Arsenal Bulgarian Makarov was purpose made as a civilian pistol, not a Milsurp. As far as Makarov quality goes the Bulgarian Makes fall behind the East German guns; which far and away are the best Makarovs made. Fit and finish on the East German Mak is on a par with Post WWII Walther PPK/S made guns. The Bulgarians are on a par with the Tokarovs and other Eastern European Milsurp Pistols... Mine, still in its factory box, was unfired (other then at the factory) - it was covered inside and out with cosmoline! A stiff brush, mineral spirits, and some elbow grease and it cleaned up nicely! ![]() ![]()
