In my opinion, the 6.8 round when loaded with 100 to 115 grain (non varmint) bullets is a worthwhile upgrade over all 5.56 offerings. It's only real downside is the lack of ammo availability and the price of it when it's found. Because of this, I'll be keeping my basic upper that's chambered in 5.56.

I've never fired a 6.8, but it should happen soon. I'll be assembling my 6.8 upper as soon as the barrel and upper receiver show up.

I was initially planning to build an 18" 6.5 Grendel , but I don't like Alexander Arm's absolute control over the cartridge, or the crazy prices that all other companies charge for the barrels.

If for some reason I don't end up liking it, I shouldn't have a hard time selling a 6.8 barrel.

Think it has great potential. Have couple in 5.56 and a AR10 in 308. Now have 2 uppers in 6.8 and only reload. Mine are in the Spec II chambers and not the original Sammi lower pressure offering.
