XDs .45?

It was bound to happen once the possibility entered my mind: an XDs followed me home. Up until now I haven't bought anything but 1911's, except for my wife's guns, in quite a while. I feel so .... dirty.

Like mentions about the Shield, I just figured I could use a carry gun for times I don't want to mess up a really nice gun. I looked at the Shield, too, but I prefer the trigger on the XDs, and besides, it's a .45 in the same size package the Shield uses to deliver 9mm or .40. I like .45s.

I'd include pics, but my Photobucket account seems to have gone insane. Besides, it's just one of those ugly, new-fangled, fanplastic wonderguns, right?

Range time to follow this weekend if the weather lets up.

Congrats on the new tupperware. I'm sure my wife fears the same thing with me thinking about another Kahr. Let us know how it goes.

I don't have one of the new XDs models, but have been carrying a full size XD Service in .45ACP for a year, and like it quite well.

This is the only plastic frame firearm I own, and I waited quite a while before making that selection. I like the striker design and dual safety features (grip and trigger).

Only downside is the dis-assembly process, which requires dropping the striker. You must, of course, drop the magazine and clear first... I understand that this was changed with the XDm series.

Congrats on the XD"s". I love mine. For a small carry gun, it packs a wallop without being hard to manage on recoil. Springfiled got this one right.

The Shield don't come in .45? That takes it out of the running for me...that's the only calibre I consider for social situations unless the designation ends in "gauge"

No .45 for the Shield. I even emailed S&W to see if they have one in the works: "no plans at this time."

I was interested because I prefer the way the M&P series feels in the hand, and I could probably do something about the trigger, but no .45 is a deal breaker. So, I have an XDs.

Finally got to take the new toy to the range today. I've heard a lot about problems with light primer strikes and FTRBs on the XDs, but this one ate a box of 230gr UMC, a box of 185gr Monarchs, and two mags of 230gr Gold Dots with no trouble at all.

Quite a bit of dry firing has smoothed out the trigger pretty darn well, and I really like the feel of the gun, especially since I switched over to the smaller backstrap. I'm thinking it's a keeper.

I like mine! For what it is, it works very well! Reliable, nice trigger, and Accurate! Very Accurate for it's size! Love the fiber sight too! Easy to see!
