Well I was not happy with the color on the stock, it was actually almost a reddish color. I stripped the stock to bare wood and then applied Min Wax Dark Walnut. Maybe should have used an Oak color. For some reason it would not take the stain very well.
I once again stripped the stock to bare wood and repeated the process. As much as I let it dry between coats with light sanding with 600 grit paper it still would not accept any more color. Who knows, might be something that I did or maybe the wood!!! Oh well, it is just a shooter and not a show piece!! The rear of the stock in both pictures is really not as dark as it appears. Not sure what happened in the picture to make it appear that way. ![]() ![]()
